Please have a look at Yuletide Foundation; Toward a Civic (& Secular) Observance of Winter Solstice: http://tinyurl.com/jultid
This is a proposal for a secular celebration of Winter Solstice meant to be used across society, but especially in the public forum; say goodbye to the preference of Christianity but also to the antiseptic use terms like “Holiday Tree” (which one?). Designed for English-speaking societies, but the idea can easily be adapted to other cultures as well.
We have a little less than a year to make this a reality, let’s develop the petition process to influence policy.

Anthropa is a movement toward creating a culture and practice of Naturalism (what one might call by any of several names from Atheism to Humanism). It is not important what term or society to which one adheres, it is more important to create a true community across those several groups and build a set traditions based on customs celebrated since time immemorial filtered through the ideals of the Enlightenment and our post superstitious ethos, and reborn to us as a way to at once be both modern and enlightened on the one side and feel a connection to custom and culture. I sincerely hope that you will join in and we together can create meaning in our life in keeping the baby while dispensing of the dirty bath water of superstition.
